MOAT A wide ditch surrounding a building, usually filled with water. Use for moated sites, not defensive moats. Use with relevant site type where known, eg. MANOR HOUSE, GARDEN, etc. Preferred term 68973 -

MODEL FARM A farm building erected in the 18th and 19th century which were architect-designed rather than built in the local vernacular style. Preferred term 71486 -

MODEL SETTLEMENT A planned village or settlement, usually developed by a philanthropic industrialist , to house workers. Most include facilities for the education and betterment of the workers and their families. Preferred term 92680 -
