Details for Calpurnius Piso (Caesoninus), L. - Roman Republican moneyer

Republican moneyer, probably the L. Calpurnius Piso Caesoninus who was Praetor in 90 BC and was an owner of an arms factory during the Social War. He also would have been author of a Lex Calpurnia offering citizenship to certain categories of allies during the war. He was the father of the L. Calpurnius Piso Caesoninus who was Consul in 58 BC. He issued coins jointly with Q. Servilius Caepio (q.v.).
