Details for Porcius Cato Uticensis, M. - Roman Republican moneyer

Republican moneyer, was a strong opponent of Julius Caesar and denounced the Catilinarian conspiracy (in which he tried to implicate Caesar) more fiercely than Cicero. He was informally exiled to Cyprus, but remained supportive of Pompey. After Julius Caesar's victory over Scipio at Thrapsus, Cato the Younger committed suicide.
