These terms are from the FISH Archaeological Objects Thesaurus (Forum on Information Standards in Heritage - FISH).

PARACHUTE STORE (2355/25) A brick-built building with four windows on the north-facing wall with a pitched roof and with a dormer roof light on both sides, intended for drying, storing and packing parachutes.The 2355/25 was the first design for a purpose-built parachute store. PARACHUTE STORE (3633/35) A hut 51ft long by 20ft wide used to dry, store and pack parachutes.Similar in design to the 2355/25, but constructed in timber instead of brick. Preferred term 160239 -
PARACHUTE STORE (6351/37) A protected parachute store built with permanent brick cavity walls and a roof of reinforced concrete slabs in two heights separated by lantern lights. Preferred term 160240 -
PARADE ARMOUR Decorative armour used for parades and display, not for combat. Preferred term 95201 -
PARADE GROUND A place where military personnel parade, practice marching, assemble or muster for a march or any other special purpose. Preferred term 68898 -
PARADISE An atrium or open court, surrounded by porticoes, at the west end of a church. Preferred term 138057 -
PARAFFIN A solid material which is combustible distilled from petroleum. Preferred term 79120 -
PARALLEL BRACE A brace, parallel to another, in wall framing or arcading, or in trusses between post and tiebeam; also referred to as a duplicate brace. Preferred term 138058 -
PARALLEL PLAN A farmstead, often of linear plan, where the working buildings are placed opposite and parallel to the house and attached working buildings with a relatively narrow space between. Preferred term 162634 -
PARAPET A barrier, usually in the form of a small wall, set to prevent people falling over the side of a bridge, balcony, roof etc. Preferred term 138059 -
PARAPET GUTTER A gutter running behind a parapet wall, the water channelled by it being discharged from holes in the wall. Preferred term 138887 -
PARASOL A light weight umbrella used as a sun shade. Preferred term 96717 -
PARCHMENT An animal skin prepared as a writing or painting surface. Preferred term 95388 -
PARCHMENT PRICKER An object used to prick holes on each side of a manuscript page to mark the postion of the horizontal lines. Preferred term 95389 -
PARCHMENT WORKS A works used for the production of parchment from animal skin. Preferred term 102668 -
PARCLOSE A screen that separates a tomb or a chapel from the main body of a church. Preferred term 138888 -
PARGETTING Ornamental plasterwork applied to the exterior of a building, especially timber-framed houses of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.. Preferred term 138060 -
PARGETTING MOULD A tool used to produce designs in plaster on the outside of buildings. Preferred term 97045 -
PARISH BOUNDARY The limit line of a parish. Preferred term 68747 -
PARISH CHURCH The foremost church within a parish. Preferred term 69982 -
PARISH HALL A hall built for the use of people living within a parish boundary. Preferred term 68748 -

PARISH SCHOOL A school serving or supported by a parish. Usually teaching religious as well as conventional education. Preferred term 92856 -

PARK An enclosed piece of land, generally large in area, used for hunting, the cultivation of trees, for grazing sheep and cattle or visual enjoyment. Use more specific type where known. Preferred term 69032 -
PARK HOME A prefrabicated home sited in parks where a pitch fee is charged. Although technically mobile they usually only make one journey before being permanently installed. Preferred term 141457 -
