These terms are from the FISH Archaeological Objects Thesaurus (Forum on Information Standards in Heritage - FISH).

PELE TOWER A strong, fortified dwelling, of between two and four storeys. Occupied only in times of trouble built mainly in the border country of the North from the mid 14th to the 17th century. Preferred term 68899 -

PELOTA COURT A court, usually with only 2 walls, used for playing pelota and its variants. Preferred term 159209 -
PELTON WHEEL An impulse water turbine comprising a wheel with hemispherical cups arranged around the circumference using high water pressure to revolve the wheel. Preferred term 144478 -
PEN An instrument for writing or drawing with ink. Preferred term 95390 -
PEN A small enclosure for cattle, sheep, swine, poultry, etc. Use more specific type where known. Preferred term 71132 -
PEN FACTORY A building or buildings used for the production of pens. Preferred term 139579 -
PEN POND A pond storing water to supply a HAMMER POND. Preferred term 92885 -
PENANNULAR BROOCH A circular or sub circular brooch with an attached pin. There is a gap in the circular part of the brooch. Preferred term 96719 -

PENANNULAR RING A ring with separated, often ornamented, terminals. Preferred term 96720 -
PENCIL An instrument for writing or drawing, which usually consists of a thin rod of graphite surrounded by a wooden cylinder. Preferred term 95391 -
PENCIL MILL A factory where pencils are manufactured. Preferred term 87943 -
PENCIL SHARPENING STONE A stone, usually found in a schoolyard, either built into a wall or forming part of a free standing structure, on which pencils can be sharpened. Although increasingly rare examples do survive. Preferred term 169964 -
PENDANT A supended ornament. Preferred term 96721 -
PENDANT A decorative piece descending vertically from the bottom of a newel on a staircase, or from the junction of barge boards at the apex of a gable. Preferred term 138074 -
PENDENTIVE A spandrel which supports a dome and aids the transition between the dome and its square or octagonal base. Preferred term 138075 -
PENDULUM A body suspended so as to be free to swing, especially one regulating the work of a clock. Preferred term 95348 -
PENGUIN POOL A pool of water, and ancillary buildings, designed to accommodate penguins. Preferred term 71495 -
PENIS SHEATH An opaque, rigid sheath used to cover the penis. Not usually contraceptive and not for obvious visual display. Preferred term 96625 -
