These terms are from the FISH Archaeological Objects Thesaurus (Forum on Information Standards in Heritage - FISH).

PIPE CLEANER An object for cleaning a pipe used for smoking. Preferred term 100083 -

Pipe Staves A pipe is a type of barrel, also used as a measure equivalent to two hogsheads. Narrow term 83548 -
PIPE TAMPER An instrument used to compress a substance into a smoking pipe. Preferred term 100085 -
PIPE WORKSHOP A workshop used for the manufacture of clay tobacco pipes. Preferred term 92929 -
PIPELINE A conduit or pipes, used primarily for conveying petroleum from oil wells to a refinery, or for supplying water to a town or district, etc. Preferred term 70397 -
PIPELINE BRIDGE A bridge used for carrying liquids, usually water, although sometimes oil, in a pipeline over a river. Mid 19th century onwards. Preferred term 144466 -
PIPES Hollow cylinders or tubes of ceramic, wood, plastic or metal used to convey liquids, gases etc. Used in a variety of industries. Preferred term 84066 -
PIPKIN A single handled pottery saucepan. Preferred term 96795 -
PISCINA A bowl for the ritual washing of hands. Preferred term 97402 -
PISCINA A perforated stone basin usually built into the wall of a church on the south side of the altar. Used for carrying away the ablutions (wine and water used to rinse the chalice, and wash the priests hands after communion). Preferred term 69505 -
PISCINA A water-drain connected to a stone bowl within a niche in the south wall of a chapel, used to receive the water in which the priest washed his hands and rinsed the Chalice. Preferred term 138090 -

PIT A hole or cavity in the ground, either natural or the result of excavation. Use more specific type where known. Preferred term 70398 -
PIT ALIGNMENT A single line, or pair of roughly parallel lines, of pits set at intervals along a common axis or series of axes. The pits are not thought to have held posts. Preferred term 70399 -
PIT CIRCLE An enclosure of Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age date, related to henges, defined by a circular arrangement of pits, probably none of which originally held posts. More than one circle, concentrically arranged, may be present. Preferred term 70113 -

PIT CLUSTER A spatially discrete group of pits usually containing artefactual material with little or no accompanying evidence for structural features. Preferred term 70400 -
PIT DEFINED ENCLOSURE An enclosure where the boundary consists of a line of discrete pits, as opposed to a continuous ditch. Use with a term that describes the shape of the monument. Preferred term 70363 -
