PROCESSIONAL CROSS A large cross designed to be carried in a procession. Preferred term 95980 -
PRODUCER GAS HOUSE A building used to manufacture Producer Gas. Producer Gas is a mix of gases formed by passing compressed air through hot coke. Preferred term 93019 -
PRODUCTIVE WALLED GARDEN A large kitchen garden enclosed by a substantial wall, not usually adjacent to its associated house. Preferred term 159384 -
PROFESSIONAL INSTITUTE A building used by organizations or societies for the promotion of a particular profession through lectures, research, etc. Preferred term 93020 -
PROJECTILE An object which is propelled by force away from a launcher, which can include from a human. Preferred term 100011 -
Projectile Factory Narrow term 99583 -
PROJECTILE WEAPON A weapon where an object is propelled away from its launcher by means of force. The launcher can be a weapon, eg a catapult, or a person. This term includes the projectiles themselves. Preferred term 97097 -
PROMENADE A place for strolling, public walks, etc. Usually associated with coastal resorts. Preferred term 93021 -
PROMONTORY FORT A defensive enclosure created by constructing one or more lines of ramparts across a neck of land, in order to defend, or restrict access to, a spur or promontory, either inland or on the coast. Preferred term 68863 -
PRONG The point or tine of a fork. Preferred term 96381 -

PROOF RANGE A site where weapons and/or explosives are tested experimentally, or are routinely tested as part of a manufacturing quality control process. Preferred term 100008 -

PROPERTY MARKER An indicator of the extent and or ownership of a property. Preferred term 95346 -
PROPRIETARY SCHOOL A school in which the funds were raised through a system of shareholding whereby parents bought shares in the school and thus paid for their children's education. Preferred term 93023 -
PROSCENIUM ARCH An arch associated with the portion of the stage between the curtain and the orchestra. Preferred term 138125 -
PROSPECT MOUND An artificial mound, generally conical, placed within a garden or park to provide a viewing point to overlook the garden or park. It may also serve as a visual focus in the garden or park layout. Preferred term 69039 -
PROSPECT TOWER A tower built on a prominent part of an estate to provide panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Preferred term 69040 -
PROSPECTING PIT A pit dug in the prospect of finding valuable minerals, coal, metal ores, etc, beneath the ground surface. Preferred term 69268 -
