The Crown Estate

The Marine Antiquities Scheme (MAS) is funded by The Crown Estate, the UK’s largest coastal landowner, responsible for managing almost the entire seabed to the 12 nautical mile territorial limit together with around half of the foreshore. One of its roles is to responsibly plan, manage and enhance the value of marine and coastal assets across the UK through its stewardship programme, which is the main reason for supporting the MAS.
