VALVE HOUSE A small building housing a valve which controls the flow within a water regulation system. Preferred term 93694 -
VALVE TOWER An iron, stone or concrete tower built up from the bed of a reservoir. From it the control valves of the pipes which draw off water at different levels are operated. Preferred term 87957 -

VAT A large container for holding or storing liquids. Preferred term 96387 -
VAT A large tank or cask for storing or holding goods, whether liquid, such as chemicals or fermenting beer, or dry, often during a production process. Preferred term 139570 -

VAULT A room or space with an arched ceiling or roof, the depth of which exceeds its span. Preferred term 138392 -
VAULT An underground room or building with an arched roof, often used as a burial chamber. Use wider site type where known. Preferred term 70345 -
VAULT SPRINGER The impost, or point at which a vault rests upon its support, and from which it seems to spring. Hence the term describes the bottom stone of a vault, which lies on the impost. Preferred term 151974 -
