VOUSSOIR A wedge shaped stone or brick forming part of an arch or vault, with its radiating sides coinciding with the radii of that arch. Preferred term 138403 -
VULNERABLE DEFILE A pass, vulnerable to attack from the enemy but essential for the movement of troops and which, if captured, could divide a defending force. As a result such passes are defended with anti invasion defences such as pillboxes. Preferred term 143222 -
