BARRAGE BALLOON MANUFACTORING SITE A site or building where barrage balloons are manufactured. Consider double-indexing with the term WAR PRODUCTION FACTORY if appropriate. Preferred term 164186 -
BARRAGE BALLOON MOORING A mooring, usually consisting of a concrete plinth, to which a barrage balloon was attached. Preferred term 160408 -
BARRAGE BALLOON SHELTER A building associated with a barrage balloon site and intended to provide shelter for the balloon crew from air attack. Preferred term 160410 -
BARRAGE BALLOON SITE A site where a single large balloon was attached by fine wire cables to the ground to form an aerial obstruction to attacking enemy aircraft. Preferred term 83658 -

BARREL A cylindrical container, usually bulging outward in the middle and usually held together by metal hoops. Preferred term 96397 -
BARREL FLAME TRAP An anti-personnel device consisting of a 40 gallon fuel drum placed on top of an explosive charge and detonator. When detonated the barrel would explode sending burning fuel over the intended target. Preferred term 142959 -
BARREL GOODS Goods stowed in barrels and therefore indicating that the barrels were in use as containers with goods stored therein, rather than as cargo in their own right. Preferred term 160142 -
BARREL HEADINGS The flat end of a barrel. Preferred term 86276 -
BARREL HOOPS Metal hoops used to hold the staves of barrels in position. Preferred term 78904 -
BARREL PADLOCK A form of padlock with a cylindrical case and bolts and springs attached to spines. Preferred term 96235 -
